How to Change a Tire on Your Road Bike

1. Gather the necessary tools: You will need tire levers, a pump to inflate the tire, and possibly a spanner depending on your wheel type.

2. Remove the wheel from the bike: Undo the lever and release the nuts using a spanner to take the wheel out.

3. Release the air from the tire: Depress the center section of the inner tube to release all the air.

4. Use tire levers to remove the tire: Insert one tire lever between the bead of the tire and the rim, working opposite the valve for more room. Insert the second lever close to the first one and release the bead over the rim.

5. Remove the inner tube: Release the inner tube from the tire, working around until you reach the valve and then remove it.

6. Inspect the tire and install the new one: Check for directional arrows on the new tire and install it with the arrow facing the direction of travel. Insert half of the tire bead into the rim and slowly inflate the tube to give it shape.

7. Insert the inner tube and finish installing the tire: Insert the inner tube into the tire, tuck the remaining bead of the tire over the rim, and work it towards the center. Use a tire lever if needed to help with tight spots.

8. Check for pinches: Ensure the inner tube is not pinched between the tire bead and the rim by working the bead away from the sidewall.

9. Inflate the tire: Inflate the tire to about 15 PSI or the maximum recommended pressure indicated on the tire sidewall.

10. Adjust the pressure and refit the wheel: Adjust the pressure to suit your riding style and refit the wheel back onto the bike frame.
