Step-by-Step Tutorial: How to Install a Toilet

Materials Needed:

• New toilet
• Toilet flange
• Seal
• Washers and nuts
• Caps
• Tank bolts and washers

Instructions:

1. Prepare for Installation:

   • Ensure you have all the necessary materials ready.
   • Remove the old toilet by shutting off the water supply, draining the tank and bowl, and disconnecting the water supply line.

2. Inspect and Replace the Toilet Flange (if needed):

   • Check the toilet flange for any cracks or damage.
   • If the flange is cracked or broken, replace it with the same size flange.

3. Install the Seal:

   • Rest the new toilet bowl on its side on a padded surface to protect the floor and the toilet.
   • Attach the seal to the bottom of the bowl.

4. Place the Toilet onto the Flange:

   • Lift the toilet over the flange and align the bolt holes in the base of the bowl with the bolts in the flange.
   • Gently press down to set the seal.

5. Secure the Toilet to the Floor:

   • Place a washer and a nut on each toilet bowl bolt.
   • Alternate from one side of the toilet to the other as you tighten the nuts a little at a time. Do not over tighten.
   • Cover the bolts with caps.

6. Attach the Tank to the Bowl:

   • Insert the tank bolts and washers from inside the tank and add the gasket.
   • Place the tank on the bowl, aligning the bolts with the holes in the bowl.
   • Secure the tank to the bowl by tightening each bolt alternately until the tank is securely attached.

7. Reattach the Water Supply Line:

   • Connect the water supply line to the toilet tank.

8. Attach the New Seat:

   • Install the new toilet seat according to the manufacturer's instructions.

9. Test for Leaks:

   • Slowly turn on the water supply valve and allow the tank to fill.
   • Flush the toilet and check for any leaks around the base of the toilet bowl and where the tank meets the bowl.
