Introduction

Step 1: Remove the Weatherstrip

• Locate the metal weatherstrip retainer beneath the weatherstrip.
• Remove the three screws holding the retainer to the frame.
• Pull the retainer away from the frame.

Step 2: Remove the Rear Side Weatherstrip

• Find the plastic clip at the front of the rear side weatherstrip.
• Remove the plastic clip.
• Pull the remainder of the weatherstrip loose from the retainer.

• Go to the rear of the sleeve and pull the side tension cable free.
• To prevent tangling, roll and tape the cable out of the way.

Step 7: Detach the Top from the Frame

• The top is secured to the frame with a strap and a screw; remove this screw to loosen the strap.
• Pull the top free from the front bow.
• Remove all fragments of staples that secured the top.
• If there are sharp staples left, hammer them into the tacking strip carefully.

Step 8: Remove Headliner Attachments

• In the well area, find the rear of the headliner attached to the body with a screw; remove this screw.
• Locate the screw fastening the well area carpet to the body and remove it as well.

Step 9: Cut the Top Loose

• Fold the top back and cut it free from the bow listings on the second and third bows.
• Fold the top forward and cut the sail panels to separate the top from the window unit. Be cautious not to cut the headliner.
• Flip the rear of the top forward and cut the last bow listing on the fourth bow. This will allow you to remove the top from the car.

Step 10: (Optional) Install New Boat Pads

• If your boat pads are unusable, you will need to install new ones.
• Using a drill with a 1/8 inch bit, drill out the rivets holding the front of the boat pads to the front bow.
